Moving through Idaho
We're staying at a deluxe RV Resort: http://www.g7rvresorts.com/ambassador/index.aspx
Looking forward to Portland tomorrow!

Wyoming in a day
Finally out of Colorado! Not that we don’t love the state
having lived in Boulder for several years. It’s just icy snow and RVs don’t go
well together, especially when bringing frozen slide-outs in under piles of it.
We are, however, happy for our Colorado friends who are now close to being out
of a severe drought.
We took off early in the morning, after sunrise and rode across
the entire state, into some new-for-us territory. If you’re in a 38 foot motor
home, and happen to be towing a car, you can appreciate this route over the Continental
Divide. Not nearly as aggressive as I 70 through the Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail
Pass, I 80 was more of a gentle continuous rise up the Divide and around the
southern edge of the Great Basin.
The western part of the stare was much like the Western
Slopes of Colorado and then the scenery slipped into Utah rock formations. We
passed tan corduroy hills and moonscape piles of rocks.
Today, Boise Idaho, and our first opportunity to add a new
state decal to the side of our Winnebago.
Weekend wrap-up
The weekend at PPIR was fantastic. The weather was good and, with a little bit of tweaking, the Lotus ran very well. A fourth place and a second place finish for son Paul III. We stayed overnight in the Springs on Sunday night and then headed north on Monday. Right into another snow storm! We stopped in Loveland Colorado and waited out another 6 inches of the white stuff. Back on the road early Wednesday.

Colorado Springs April 19
THIS is what it’s all about.
The snow and ice are behind us after literally being frozen
in up in Loveland Colorado. Back at home, we saw our facebook friends declaring
themselves new “lakefront” property owners when torrential rains caused
flooding in the Midwest.
The good news – Paul dug us out of close to twenty inches of
rapidly melting snow. Several coffee pots of hot water unfroze the motor home
jacks and he replaced the sewer hose that had snapped in two in the cold. Not
all travel is glamorous.
The sun was out and in true Colorado fashion, the trip down
I25 was beautiful, the front range glistening in what was now a dusting of
snow. Our house sitter let us know our home was above water and everything was
well there. Whew.
At Pikes Peak International Raceway we parked in the RV
section of the infield. Our son arrived for his first drive in his newly
restored 1964 Lotus Super Seven. This car has been a member of the family since 1969.
You can see how cool the car looks in the photos. What you can’t see is the
grin of delight on his face after driving it in its new condition. The first picture is what it looked like when Paul originally bought it.
More driving and racing today and tomorrow, with forecasted
highs in the 60’s and plenty of warm Colorado sunshine.

Loveland CO - April 14 and April 15
What a difference a day makes, twenty-four little hours. Hmmm. Maybe I should write a song.
After a white-knuckle ride down I 76 yesterday and 50 mph gusts buffeting the motor home, we arrived in Loveland.
This morning, we awakened to the snow.
Good thing we know Colorado. We're sure it'll melt soon. It's already just slush on the roads.

Getting ready for a big road trip in the motor home. The Winnebago is
ready and we are just waiting for some good weather to start our trip
out west. The first stop will be in Colorado for some vintage sports
car racing. This time I will be the pit crew and son Paul will be
driving his freshly restored 1964 Lotus Super Seven.
Then we head west through Utah and Idaho to Portland Oregon. A side trip to the Willamette Valley for some wine tasting and a visit to the Oregon coast before heading back. A northerly route will take us to Yellowstone Park and then Montana and the Dakotas. Will post pictures as we go. Can't wait.
